'er' sounds:
Most common choices er/ir/ur.  There is not much to choose between the - 'er' most common at the end of 2 syllable words, otherwise try 'Scratch spelling' writing out a word with all 3 choices to see what looks right.  *After a 'w' the choice will be 'or' e.g. 'worm'.
